New Summer Uniform For Pipe Band
. The Wellington-Hawke's Bay Pipe Band Centre's annual contest in Levin tomorrow will also see the debut of the Horowhenua Scottish Society's Band in its new summer uniform. The uniform, a model of which is displayed in the win'dow of a local shop, ha& as its main feature special cqlqured fucings^on new khaki dfill - tunics. The facings, which; considerably enhance the tunlos, are green for drummers and 'red ; for pipers: . Bright plated buckles, made locally, and leather belts, also of loeal manufacture, add a trim appearance. The tunics, which are cut away to .take the sporran, have also the addition of silver thistle-embossed buttons of diamond shape, made in Ha,stijigs. Tne stag-head glengarry hadges, the emblem of the McKenzie clan, have been chro'mium plated. The secretary of the band, Mr. E. Mclntyre, said this morning that che band was still experienGing trouble in obtaining its new dress uniform, but had been successful in securing £300 worth of incidental equipment, including sporrans. • These, however, had' not yet arrived. Meanwhile, the band would still retain its usual winter uniform. The contest committee is hoping for a good attendaribe of the public at tomorrow's function.-
