LONDON, Feb. 7. The wool values in Loudoii last week were fully ou par with opening prices the previous week and good clearances are reported amid brisk competition from Home and Contineutal buyers, states the International Wool Secretariat special news service. Bradford is buying average style and burrv Merino combing wools of which the joint organisation Merino stonks in this country are now largely constiturea, and Contineutal buyers are taking large weights. of average to inferior style elothing wools in greasy, scoured and earbonising types, 011 y which- a large section of the prewar Contineutal demaiwl was concentrated. The Bradford top market is lirm lor Merino qualities but slightly easier for niedium and low' crossbred tops following reports tnat the New Zeaiand market is soinewhat cheaper this week owiug to rcduceu Kussian and Contineutal coinpetition.
Yorkshire topmakers have not yet been able to sell niedium crossbred tops at prices cumparable with the curreut seasou's wool costs in New Zeaiand and the slightly lower prices there lielp t'o narrow the existing gap between wooi costs and top 'prices. Users, fidtvevei, expect to buy to better advantage' as the primary markets become less ex'treme and uiost Bradford topmakers today would -$eii 50 'sl$tiid lower' qualities at a penuy less than last week.
