AUCKLAND, Feb. 7. Mr. C. L. Cleal tonight was appointed organising secfetary of the British Empire Games at .Auckland from February 4 to 11 next year. Mr. Cleal was cbosen from 36 applicants for tbe position. Tbe recommendation for his appointment was made by tbe Auckland organising committee to tbe New Zea land British Empire Games Association nearly two weeks ago and was confirmed by a meeting of the -association in Wellington this afternoon. The position will earry a salary of £800 in addition to a bonus on tbe winding up of tbe affairs of tbe Games. Mr. Cleal is a member of the Herald athletic reporting stalf.
