Proposed New Subdivision Provides 18 Sections
Eighteen more building sections will become available when a new sub'division wnich - may ultimately link Queenwood Road with Baritholomew Road .is finally approved by the Levin Borough Council. At last night's meeting plans vgere forwarded for consideration by a firm of solicitors, acting for the M. Hunter estate, in . Queenwood Road. It. was stated at the meeting "that the proposed road 'dividing the ' property would link with a road] reserve area on the Bartholomew Road fro'ntage of another property) owner. The difficulty, however, 1 lay in that the appli'cation before i the council provided for a road 50, in width, whereas the- other) property owner had provide'd for a 66-foot road. Councillors were of i the opinion that two different i widths would be unsightly, aljthough some considered that in a jroad of t'he nature proposed the lesser width would be a'dequate. The questioh was raised by Cr. 1 W. Telford that it would perhaps be j i wiser if the council in .future ' insisted on subdivisional plahs incorporating the complete area in' the vicinity, so that it would have a greater appreciation of the affect of such a subdivision on otiher properties or subdivisional schemes. This suggestion met with the , approval by the Mayor; Mr. -H. B. | Burdekin. I In regard to the proposition : before the council, it was 'decided that the works committee make full investigations and report back to the council.
