National Rifle Meeting Opens
TRENTHAM, Feb. 7. The National rifle meeting opened at Trentham this morning in dull but fine weather. Entries totalled 437, which showed an increase of 103 on last year. They include 14 riflemen from Australia, among these being F. Nelson, former Australian champion of champions and Australian representative at Bisley. s The entries have been grafied as follows: A, 180; B, 131; C, 79. Service series oniy, 47. This morning's shoot consisted of the non-championship opening match of seven shots at 300, 500 and 600 yards. The championship series will begin this afternoon with the Wellington match of 10 shots at 500 and 600. A moderate 8 o'clock wind prevailed when shooting began. This year riflemen, reverted to the rule operating about 20 years ago of a time limit for the whole shoot instead of one minute for each shoot. The time limits are 15 minutes for 10 shots at 300 and 500 yards, 16 minutes at 600 yards an'd 17 minutes at 900 yards.
