AUCKLAND, February 3. The British statesman, Mr. Anthony Eden, arrived by air Clipper from Seattle at four o'cloc^ this morning in the eourse of a private Empire tour. Looking remarkably fit after his long journey, Press photographers pleading for "Mr. Eden to smile" eaught him in a happy outburst of laughter. Mr. Eden was accompanied by Commander Allan Noble, R.N., M.P. They were met at the airport before dawn by Wing- ( fommander T. F. Gill, representing the Governor-General, Sir Bernard Freyberg, and also the Minister of Education, Mr. MeCombs, for the Goverhment, and Mr. F. W. Doidge, M.P., for the Opposition, Sir Patrick Dulf, United Kingdom High Commissioner, the Mayor of Auckland, Mr. J. A. C. Allum, and others. Mr. Eden will be accordOd a civic receptidn in the Town : Hall tonight. v
