Shannon Tennis Club's Activities
With the tennis season well on the way, piayers have settled down after considerable changes in the championship ladder positions, A number of matches have been played . over the . past few weeks.and ladder positions are as follows:— Senior men: K. Batt, C.- Booker, A. Peni, R. Edmonds, H. 'Pope, C. Mortimer, Hill, J. Humphries, O. Tippler, P. Wright,. .G. Beere, H. Moore, A-. Hook, R. Hook, Hunter, T. Harrison, M. Higgie, R. Vinsen, K. Randolph, G. Mitchell and K. Clough. • , • Senior ladies: Mrs. D. Jones, Mrs. 'Higgott, Mrs. G. Beere, Miss J. Pigott, Miss C. Burke, Miss-P. Burtt, Mrs. Hunter, Miss J. Moynihan, Miss C. Stern, Mrs. Wishart, Miss F. Peni, Mrs. H. Pope, Miss H. Gardner, Mrs. W. Tricker, Miss J. Hennessy and Miss T. Moynihan. Marked improvement has o been poticed in the younger piayers since the beginning of the season, and this is no doubt due to the coaching "given by a number of senior piayers who have taken an interest in the future of the junio'rs. The junior men's ladder is as follows: — B. Morrison, D. Lind, K. McEwen, B. Richardson, G. McEwen, R. Cameron, G. Kennard, R. Vinsen, K. Prier, R. Higgie,. T. Pope, G. Batt, P. Wilkinson, R. Pratt and G. Vinsen. Only three ladies are competing in the junior ladies' competition and their positions on the ladder are: Miss Hunter, Miss B. Gardner and Miss E. Robinson. Many members of the.club have worked very hard in cleaning up ,the surroundings and the pavilion,
and the courts are In first class condition. So far'during the season the local club has played several inter-club matches .and piayers have shown very good form.
