AUCKLAND, Jan. 24. About 10.15 Deteetive Hall and Constable McGarry saw three men emerge from thc front door of the countingliouae of J. R. Watkins and Co. Ltd., t^uecn Street, and approack a parked motor ear which had earlier been reportcd unlawfully convcrted. The conatable eaught one of the trio and deapite a blow on the head, held his man. The deteetive tired ahots aa the other two disregarded a warning and ran into the park. Both were soon arrested at their homes. The three men, liandcuffed together, appeared in the Poliee Court today charged with breaking and entering. Watkins' countinghouse with intent to commit a crime. They were: — Cfeorge Charles Daynes, aged 21, bootmaker; Franeis John Daynes, aged 22, labourer; Terence Dunkley, aged 21, factory hand. The Daynes brotliers were described as Portuguese. On the application of the poliee. the aeeused were remanded in custody by the Magistrate, Mr. F. H. Levien, until February 1.
