Maori Queen Stages A Popular Gala
v The grounds at the Raukawa meeting house were a scene of great activity on Friday when a gala day was held in aid of the Maori Queen. The vegetable, cake and sweets stalls reported brisk business, and the' many children present- were given free ice creams j and pony rides. Races wefe . also staged for them. J The numero'us fancy .cpstumes and decorated exhiblts prpvided a gay scene, and the judges, had no easy task. Prizes were awarded ~as^ follows. — Decorated bicycles: Marie Housiaux and Pam Mather ; scooter: Terry Norrie; dolls prams: June Mather and Lois Harvey. A special prize was awarded Mary McLeod.
