Proposed Memorial Hall Site Not Favoured

At the fortnightly meeting of the Shannon Borough Council on Tuesday evening, a letter was received from the Under-Secretary of the Department of Internal Aff airs, referring to previous correspondence concerning the proposed Shannon War Memorial Hall. The communication went on to state that this object had been re-con-sidered functionally and architecturally, by the advisory committee and although it was felt that the general idea was satisfactory, the chosen site necessarily led to the cramping of the buildings. It was suggested that the council be asked whether an alternative site could not be found. The point was also raise that if, for special reasons, this site had to be used, what facilities had been provided for off -street parking. Following a discussion, it was resolved, on the motion of Or. B. Clayton, to send a copv of the letter to the War Memorial Committee for its comments on the points raised. ' .
