Wool Bursaries The New Zealand Wool Board is offering New Zealand scientists two , bursaries entitling the holders. to a two-year study course overseas on some - aspect of sheep or wool research. Polio Less Frequent No further cases of poliomyelitis have been reported in the Wellington Health District, states the Health Department. The last cases -were reported in Wellington and Eketahuna41 on- January 16 and 17. Prbvious to this, the last Wellingf ton case was reported on Deeember 24.. With the object of promoting scientific research into the Dominion's principal industry, sheepfarmi'ng and woolgrowing, the board is offering tWo bursaries -each year. They have a value of £400 sterhng a ye„ar. Successful applicants are required to undertake to return to New Zealand and make available the benefits of their experience abroad. Famed Black Diamond Insignia The only members of the New Zealand Regular Force who would wear. the famous.. "black diamond" beret insignia and a distinguishing shoulder slide would be the new eadet companies, said the Commandant of the Trentham Military Camp, Colonel G. H. Clifton', D.S.O., M.C., yesterday. Colonel Clifton said the shoulder slide would be in the traditional white on black colouring and about 1J to 2 inches wide. The cadet companies are named after the late Brigadier R. Miles and Major-General O. H. JVIead. The slides will bear the words: "Miles (or Meadl Company, R.F. Cadets."
