Royal Commission On Death Penalty
Received Friday, 9.45 a.m. LONDON, Jan. 20. The Frime Minister, Mr. Attlee, stated in the House of Commons that His Majesty had approved the setting up of a Royal Commission on capital punishment. The commission would consider whether the criminal law on capital punishment- forunurder.shQ.uJd be altered or modified, said Mr. Attlee. It would- also make recommendations for dealing with persons otherwise liable. to capital punishment, and for the consequent changes in the existing laws and'prison systems. The commission would consider the pjsition in other countries before making its report.
