Marching Display Proposed

The use of the Otaki Domain on Saturday, March 5, for a marching teams' contest was sought by the secretary of the Horowhenua Marching Association, Mr. A. L. Dobson, in a letter received at last night's meeting of the Otaki Borough Council. "The contest is being held to give encouragement to the two teams already formed in Otaki, while it is hoped that the display will be the means of more teams being formed," the letter stated. It also advised that a local committee would be set up to organise the contest, the association acting in an advisory capacity, and that profits would be divided between the local teams. , The application was favourably received, and in view of the fact that it is the first occasion that marching teams have applied for the domain, it was agreed to advise sports bodies likely to be using the grounds that they had been allotted to the marching association on the date asked for.
