Coronation Of Queen To Be Held In March

On behalf of the Otaki Wai jjMemorial Committee, Mr. F. J. EdWards wrote to last night's meeting of the Otaki Borough Council askiqg for the use of the Civic Theatre on March 9 for the coronation ceremony in connection with the Queen Carnival which is being held at present. It was agreed to apply to have the night . allocated. The Commissioner of Transport forwarded a draft copy of a bulletin of road markings and'diagrams. the idea behind the scheme being to provide for uniform markings throughout the country. The council agreed to study the bulletin. Messrs. Martin and Hurley, solicitors, of Wellington, on behalf of the Otaki and Porirua College Trusts Board, forwarded a copy of a resolution regarding a building line restriction, and the exemptlon of Te Rauparaha Street. The communication and application are to be dealt with. The Dominion Laboratory, Wellington, reported on two samples of water, one having been taken from the reservoir intake, the other from a tap at the station, and advised that both samples appeared to be of satisfactory quality. — Received. An application for an extraordinary water supply was received from Mr. C. A. Kemp, Otaki Railway, and was grante'd. A circular letter from the Director General of Health regarding the adequate training of sanitary inspectors advised that a course of instruction would be commenced at J the Wellington Technical College in February. The course was recommended, and steps to be taken by local au^horities if they desired to ' enter trainees were outlined. The - letter was received. . An application from the Citizens' Queen Committee, Mrs. B. J. Taylor, for permission to hold a shop day on February 11, was granted.
