MASTERTON, Jan. 19. . Relationships between Maoris and Chinese figured in the Magistrates' Court hearing in Masterton today of a murder charge against Peggy Maaka, ali-as Phyliis Thompson, alias Phyliis Yee Kim, aged 34, who appeared before Mr. J. R. Herd, S.M. Accused -was charged with the murder of Yee You' Kim Ahpene, known as Joseph Fredrick Yee Kim, 18 months of age, at Te Ore Ore on November 10. Seventeen witnesses, nine of them for the police, are being called. An Jnterpreter has been engaged to'translate the evidence of three Chinese witnesses int-o English. Mr. W. H. Cunningham, Grown Prosecutor, of Wellington, conducted the case for the police and Mr. D. Foster appeared on benalf of accused.
