Council To Prosecute Those Misusing Water
The water supply shortage is so acute that the Levin " Borough Council last night decided tO' prosecute any persons cau^ht leaving garden hoses running unattended. The town dierk (Afr. H. L. Jenkins) and waterworks overseer (Mr. W. Grieg) ' "haye been detailed to patrol the town and take the names of offenders, It was stated that during the holidays * a person could /have Walked over the flOor* of the main tank without getting Wet feet. ? , , "It is time the people real'ised that a 12-inch . main keeps Lev.iii going," said Cr., D..' Gardlher, "The time .is, coming when, we wili need a water board in this town."',: Mention was also made by coiincillors of the grave danger of having insufficient water to deal with a big fiie if stern measureS werenot taken to prevent wastage. .
