Renown Theatre
As the title indicates, "The Jolson Story'' is a biography of the caree'r of A1 Jolson, popular American stage and screen star of the early thirties. It tells of his early struglgles to get in to the show business, and his ups and downs and ultim-i ate success. His domestic life is covefed in some detail, and .nodoubt this has been glamoris'ed to make it good screen material. The most intriguing factor of the filni is that Jolson himself does not play the main part. This is in tlie hands of a very competent young' actor, Larry Parks, but where ver. a song is introduced Jolson's voice is heard. This dubbing is very cleverly accomplished, and the illusion is perfect., Supporting Larry Parks is a very capable cast headed by Evelyn Keyes, in the role of his wife, Scotty Beckett as Jolson as a child, William' Demarest and Bill GoodiWln.
