Personal - 7 Mr. and Mrs. Wylie, of Mangaore, have returned- home after spdhding a holiday in the Hamilton district. Miss Parkin, of Wellington, who has been the guest of Mr. and Mrs. E. Chester, Stout Street, returned home today.* Mrs. E. Chester, of Stout Street, accomp&.nie'd by Mrs. S. Sheddon, are spending a few days' holiday at Paraparaumu Beach. Miss V. Munford, of Pretoria Road, who has been spending a holiday in the Wairarapa district, returned home yesterday afternoon. Miss V. Munford, of- Pretoria Road, and Mr. and Mrs. B. Wilkin^ son, of Plimmerton, returned yesterday after spending a camping holiday at Napier. Market Gardens Looking WeH The recent rain has had a very beneficial effect on the Opiki market gardens. Onion and potato crops were looking very well and all gardeners • are having a good season. . Potat-o crops will be ready to harvest soon. No Flax Hooks ° * When the flax industry was bobming in Shannon sdme years ago, almost every shop in town sold the all-important flax hook. However, when an old-time "flaxie" who is re-entering the job of flax cutting attempted to buy a hook yesterday, none were available. After trying every hardware store in the town, he engaged a taxi to take him to Foxton, where he hoped his luck woul'd be better.
