Carpenters and Their New Award

WELLINGTON, Jan. 13. The carpenters' protest over the new award provisions for the industry, was carried a stage further today, said the president of the New Zealand Carpenters and Joiners' Union, Mr. F. L. Langley tonight. He said the secretary of the Federation of Labour had inforined the special conference in session in Wellington, that representatives of the New Zealand Master Builders' Federation and emplovers other than builders, would meet representatives of the union oh Thursday and Friday next week. The matters to l)e discussed, said Mr. Langley, would be wages, retrospective pay, alterations to the

suburban work provision and exemptions. The union would be represented by the president, vice-president and secretary supported by three representatives of the Federation of Labour.
