Second Aircraft For Use By Ministers
WELLINGTON, Jan. 13. A. seeond Devon aircraf t for use by Cabinet Ministers and distinguished overseas visitors has been purehased by the Government. Knowix as the "exacutive model" it is the military version of the de Havilland Dove, a speedy twin-engined civil aircraf t. The Devons form part of the General Purposes Flight of the Royal New Zealand Air Force which is stationed at Ohakea. The original Devon has been in service for about seven months. With a crew of three, it aecommodates eight passengers in single seats. The "executive model," liowever, which •was delivered just before Christmas, carries only seven. This ean be made up of either five passengers and a crew of two or four passengers and a crew of three. Four comfortable armehairs are fitted, two facing forward and two facing aft. There are small folding tabies between the armchairSi In addition, there is an extra seat forward with a special table for use by a private secretary or typist. Intercommunication is provided by telephone bettveen the pilot and one of the passengers.
