A lield of 690 teams entered for tlie pairs elianipionsliips of tlie New Zealand Bowling Association 's annuai tournament, was reduced in tlie lirsi day of play todav to 45 unbeaten teams liaving twp lives and to 177 wliieli were beaten once and tlius luive one life. So far in the tournament there have been eight rounds of play in the singles and four in the pairs and of more than 1400 players who have contested these events, only two have yet to be beaten.
