In the first communiqus issued since they announced the cessation of hostilities, the Dutch Army today reported an attempt by Republican forces to infiltrate into Jogakarta on Sunday night. ' The eommunique stated that the Republicans destroyed a small transformer station, cut telephone wires and attempted to raise fires. It claimed that the "gang was dispersed and for the greater part Wiped out by Netherlands troops " The Dutch had two woundecfy Meanwhile, Republican reports rsaching Batavia claim that guerrilla activities continue throughout Java and Sumatra. The reports claimed that a number of snjall towns have been re-occupied by the Republicans. •A further Republican report stated that guerrilla forces in East Java are now concentratcd east of Madium, in the Branta's delta. Call For Elections The United States lias ealled on I the Netherlands to fix a definite , date for the holding of elections Indonesia with.a view j to establishing the foundations of a I United States of Indonesia. Dr. Phillip Jessup, the United States delegate, addressing the Security Council, also ealled for the fixing-of a date for the transfer of sovereignty from the Netherlands. to a United States of Indonesia. He said the elections should be held by secret ballot. Dr. Jessup also ealled on the Netherlands to release the Republican leaders. Mr. Jacob Malik, the Soviet delegate, accused Britain and the United States of covering up and encouraging the Netherlands aggression. He said that the Angl'oAmerican majority on the council had opposed a Soviet proposal which would have restrained the aggressor. The basis of the West European allianee was that the members consult one another. Therefore, the Netherlands aggression in Indonesia must have been carried out with the silent agreement of Britain, France and Belg'ium. The debate was adjourned till Friday.
