WELLINGTON, Jan. 11. The Government immigrant ship Atlantis is exj>ected to arrive at 'Wellington on Friday morning with 90b passengers of whom 762 are - Government assisfed settlers. The remainder of the berths were alloeated by rhe Department of Labour and Employment. on an employment priority basis. The. 7(52 settlers inelude 277 men and 485 women of whom 534 will be -distributed in the North Island and 228 over the South Island. tn a statement, the Minister ofLabour, Mr. McLagan, statfsd that this was the vessel 's first trip since l Eebruarv since when alteratioas had been earried out to the ship 's • aceommodation to enable more .passengers to be earried. A einema had been installed and films supplied through the High Commissiouer 's office, London, and a Government information officer who travels in the vessel gives talks and lectures, promotes games activities and does everything possible to assist the new settlers.
