p6rsonal Mrs. B. Hateley, of Mangaore, has returned home after spending a holiday in the Hamilton "district. . Mr-. T. ^Astwood, . wh'o has been holidaying with his . parente at Mangaore, returned to his Air Force duties yesterday morning. Mr. K. Tritt and Mr. J. Liard,. of the State Hydro Department, Mangaore, have resumed duties after spending their holiday leave at their respective homes in Hastings and Waverley. Work Back To Norma! . ' The'school children are the only lucky ones who are still enjoying their holidays, as most of the other workers have now resumed their duties. The Public Works employees recommenced work today. Harvesting Of Potatoes The harvesting of potato crops in ou'tside districts threatens to take casual labour from Shannon. From time to time small parties of workers have been leaving the towm and as the result of a telephone request, quite a large party will shortiy be leaving for the Feilding district, where the potato crops are about to be harvested. Much Hay- Makino Activity The harvesting of hay is still in fulk force in this district an'd the contractors with "pick-up" presses ape working long- hours to cope with fhe heavy demand made on their services. Those farmers. who are using the old method of stacking their hay are experiencing some difhculty in obtaining casual labour for the work.
