TRUCE MISSION FAILS
Received Monday^ 7.55 p.m. NANKING, Jan. 10. Reports from Tientsin say attempts lo secure a cease lire have failed, states the Uiiited Press correspondent. The fiour-man Gity Council truce mission which went to the Communist lines to seek a cean-e fire in defiance of the Xationalist eommander, General Eu Two Yi, returned to report failure. They said the Communist commanders refused either to see or talk with them. American, British, Erench and other uationals are preparing to livo under Communist rule. Seventy Americans have been ordered to the United States consulate building and the British and Frenc-h are reported to be taking precautionary measures.
