Small Boy Drowned

CilRLSTOHUECU, Jan. 10. A small boy was drowned when he t'ell iiito the Heathcote Eiver this afternoon. He was Danny Edward Thomp son, aged 4, son of Mr. and Mrs. M. A. Thompson, -3 Eiley Crescent, Woolston. The boy was playiiig 011 the Nunnor Terrace banlc almost opposite Chichester Street. with a boy of his own age a bout 3 0 'clock. When he leant over to look into a cu'lvert, he fell into the river. The otlier boy went home and said: ' ' Danny has fallen into the river." A. party of police began to searcli for the body and the father and neighbour dived into the river several times but the water was dirty and nothing could be seen. When the tide started to go out the body was found at 0.30 p.m. about two ehainst from where the boy fell in.
