WEELIXGTOA, .Jan. iu. The Xew Zealand Government has acquired from the Carlton Hotel Companv the unexpired term o'f the Crown lease of the well known London land marks, Carlton Hotel, Ilis Alajestv's Theatre and the Royal Opera Arcade. This was announced tonight by the Acting Prime Minister, Mr. Xash, who said a simultaneous release was betng made by the vendors in London. When rebuilding is permitted, added Mr. Xash, it is 'the intention of the Xew Zealand Government to erect on the hotel site a ijew building for Xew Zealand Ilouse. Meantime the major part of the hotel will eontinue to house the British Ministry of food while the Carlton grill and l)ar will eontinue under the same management and ownership ,tmtil the property is rebuilt. The Carlton, His Alajesty's and the Royal Opera Arcade stand on a site of over' oue acre with frontages on Haymarket, Pall Alall and Charles Second Htreet. The present Xew Zealand House which has been occupied as such since 191(5, is in The Strand.
