End Of Victorian Coalition
MELBOURNB, Jan. 7. The Liberal Party in Vietoria 'will oppose the Country Party in all seats at the next Rtate and Federal elections. This announcement by the State Liberal president (Mr. M. Cormaek) spells the end of Liberal and Country Party cooperation in Yietoria, and is tlie culmination of weeks of fruitless negotiations following industrial and political troubles over the Victorian Mssential Rervices Aet. The decision followed the announcement by the Premier (Mr. Hollway) that, if neeessai'y, he would seek an early Rtate election as a connter to any Country Party and Labour Party plan to defeat the Liberal Government. "The Country Party has not only consistentlv refused to participate in a eomposite Government in recent months, but has also refused to combine with the Liberal Phrty on an organisational level," said Mr. Cormaek. "It has even been suggested that negotiations are taking place between elements of the Country and Labour Parties to bring about the defeat of the Hollway Government."
