A feature of his batting is the tremendous power he can impart" to his shots. With an apparent minimum of eft'ort, he stroked' his drives, pulls, glides and cuts to the boundary with such artistry that the erowd. was kept in constant expectation of something really great and received it in abundance. Eeid was most ably ' assisted by a competent eii'ort by G. Eabone while D. S. Wilson shared in the final applause for deelining to ghther some easy runa as an outriglit victory loomed in sight, to enable Eeid to make the winning hit. The weather was bright and sunny when play was resume'd. but a heavy overnight rain had left the outiield sofL und the wicket was damp in plaees. Seores: — CANTEEBUR17.
