ueceivea Tuesaay, o.^u p.m. LONDON, Jan. 4. American soldiers have been told by the United States Commandant, Colone! Howley, not to mix socially with the Russians, says the British United Press Berlin correspondent. Colonel Howley said: "As long as the Russians keep an inhuman bluckade around Berlin while American and British fliers are dying and suffering great hardships to keep the air lift flving and as long as American people are forced to spend millions of dollars co overcome the bestial blockade, 1 do°n 't want my men to mix socially ■ with thern. " Colonel Howley bitterly denoancea the Rnssians for at.tempting to starve the Allies out of Berlin and make the Germans g6 hungry. "Let them eat their own food. They can damn well eat their own shank bones of German cattle. ' Colonel Howley said that if any of his officials had business matters to dis •uss with the Russians, they could do so but fraternisation socially was taboo. Ba added. that lie was not interested ai friendly Russian overtures at a low level in Berlin. If ihe Russians wanted ;u make friendly overtures they shoulri do so at top level and lift tlie blockade.
