Fruit Crop Estimates
The Dominion apple crop for the coming* season is estimated at 2,408,000 cases, according to figures given in the current issue of the Journal of Agriculture. Nelson, it is estimated, will supply 966,000 cases, Hawke's. Bay 685,000 cases and Auckland 280,000 cases. Sturmers are' the strongest variety with an expected yield of 568,000 cases. Field officefs of the Horticulture Division of the Agriculture Depart- } ment also forecast a pear harvest • of 332,000 cases; peaches, 457,000; apricots, 126,000; nectarines, 48,000; plums, 86,000; cherries, 12,000, and quinces, 29,000 cases.
