King Spent His Birthday Quietly
Received Wednesday, 9.10 a.m. LONDON, Dec. 14. Messages of congratulation and good wishes from all parts of the Empire reached the King at Buckingham Palace today on his 5'3rd birthday. Flags were flown on Government ofiices and public buildings, but there were no otheA- oflicial celebrations. The King spent the morning quietly at the Palace, carrying out his usual routine of State business. The Duke and Duehess of Gloucester joined His Majesty at his birthday luncheon with the Queen, Prineess ElMabeth, P'r'incess Margaret and the Duke of Edinburgh. The Duke of Gloucester later fle w to Holland, where he is staying as the guest of Prince Bernhard.
