The strong Nationalist Army under Generai Chang Kang had broken tkrougli the' Communist lines in the Suhsien area and had linked up with' the Nationalist forces in the north, said the Central News Ageney. The linkup cut Off some 300,000 Conimunist troops battling in the Hsuehow-Hussien-Yung-e.lLeng triangle on the approaches to Nanking. The ageney added that the linkup was made in the North Kiangsu provin.ee northeast of the main battle area. * Whil'e Nanking maintains silenee regarding the fate of the three Nationalist Army groups surrounded by the Communists in Honan-Anhvvei-Kiangsu border region, the New Cliina News Ageney (the Communist organ operating in Hong Kong) today claims that. 30,000 of these* Nationalists were killed or wounded and 10,000 officers and men eapt-ured.
