Post Office Prepared For Christmas Rush
-With -only another ten working days-until Christmas, ■ the staff ,at the,,Leyin Post Office is .already being pressed to cope with the increasing amount of mail which is passing through t'he office. ■By the end of next' week, it is 'expected, that the peak will be reached in outWard postifigs. The inward mails will then commence. At normal times, about 50 bags of mail and parcels are handled each day. This" amounts to approximately 20,000 articles per week. On some days, 120 bags will pass through the «> office. The inward mails are almost the same, from 10,000 to • 15,000 articles being handled.

It is exnected that 30,000 lettdrs | one will" come into the office, while a further 20,000 will be postj ed out. The postmaster, Mr. A. V. Morgan, advises that unless parcels are posted on or before Wed- | nesday next, there will be little | chance of early delivery. j Telegrams and toll ealls are also ^xpected to increase in number .during the next week. In this rejgard, the publie. are advised that [On aird after December 20, ahy I telegrams other than Christmas greetings will need to be made" ■ lurgent. Between the hours of noon and 2 'p.m. on' Christmas Day, only toll calls of an exceptionally ■ ■urgent nature will be handled by : the exchange.
