Evening Sports Draw Large Attendance At Otaki
Following a lull owing to the !wet weather the previous week, a splendid crowd turned out to witness the sports held on the Otaki Domain on Wenesday evening. There were many high class performahces and. the speetators should have been well satisfied with the fare provided. Feature- event -was the five mile cycle race, provided as a preliminary for the entrants in the Laykold Cup, to be contested at Petone, on Saturday. isixteen startefrs llned up and .a very , interesting contest was seen, several riders having chances with a ro'und to go. . It was uhfortunate that Ian Mu'dgway was eliminated 200 yards -from home. He wa# "pulling out" for a run, but went into a skid and fell. -A win to Parker was well received and he.was giveii a deserved ovation. There were- numerous visitors -from adjacent clubs and the honours for the evening were well distributed. Competitors from Levin, Shannon and Paraparaumu scored we:l-merited successes and their attendance was much appreciated.
