Mowing Of Borough Streets The borough foreman, Mr. W. Robertson, is at present busily engaged in mowing the grasshon the sides of the streets within the borough. Ladies At Bowls Although conditions were not particularly favourable for the usual ladies' day at the Shannon Bowling Club's greeii on Tuesday, there was a good attendanee, The first of -the pairs competitions were played and the following were the results: — Mesdames Graham and Hunter beat Mesdames Wilson and Coglan, Mesdames Peni and Laing beat Mesdames Edmonds and Stern, Mesdames Edmonds and Stern ' beat Mesdames Wilson and Coglan. Members are requested to endeavour to complete one game before next Tuesday. Opening Of Street A petition for the opening up of Matai Street, Tokomaru, from Rata Street to Matipo Street, was received from Mr. P. Sheridan and six others at yesterday's meeting of the Horowhenua County Council.
