Dance Studio Pantomime Was Big Success. Presented by the dance studios of Miss Trene Oliver, a clever- pantomime, "The. Dream Boat," brought to a "fltting close the year's activities of the dancing pupils from, Palmerston North and Levin. .'A packed house and, spontaneous -appreciation - was . ; ;the reward for the considerable amount of work which rrfust have gone into the production, oi :,the "Dream Boat," and also the many. individual and group items ..which followed. : ' , -

Hewitt. of Levin, the pantomime told of the experiences in Dream Land of two young persons, Donald and' Shirley, --and, how, under the escort of- the Dream Man, they were grattted the tare privilege of takin'g a peap.;be-. hind the scenes of their dreams. In three scenes, starting from tfle home of the Levin family * ' on Christmas Eve, there • appeared bver 60 performers of varied- ages, and the properties and lighting effects were a credit to those responsible. No detail of vastly involved settings was omitted' -and Mrs. Hewitt and Miss Oliver : -and her pupils, the helpers and Mr. K. A. Alderson, who was behind the 'ighting effects, are to be ;con§;ratulated on a really flne 'effort. It. would be impossible to individualise. among the many performers, but the "babies" of the cast must be mentioned. The latter part of the programme was also • capably handled by the pupils. At the close of the function, the Mayor, Mr. H. B. Burdekin, sta'ted that the performance had been One of ths most outstanding held in the theatre, and congratulations were due to all responsible. Late'r both Mr. and Mrs. Burdekin distributed a large number of bouquets and gifts among the performers.

The principal parts were taken by the fol'lowing: — "Santa Claus," Graham Haggertty; "Shirley," Shirley Broadbent; "Donald," Donald Shaw; "The Mother," Mrs. G. Hesp; "Dream Man." Alison Joll; "Fairy," ."Virginia He.sp. The leading vocal role was ably filled by Mrs. G. Hesp. Other jvocalists were: — Miss Al.son Joll, l "Land of Children's Dreams" and , Floating High in the .Clouds"; iMiSs Lo-is Miliard and chorus, "The :Man That Paints the Rainbow in the Sky"; and Miss Faye Sayles. Individuals making up the remainder of the cast were as folllows:— Geraldine Mangin, Julie 1 Hewitt, Robin and Errol Collier, I Valarie Mangin, Barbara Hesp, 'phillipa Tilley, Ngaire Mangin, Zoe Iwilliams, Sandra Plimmer, Lavinia ! Hayfield, Susan MacDonald, and iNeaire Tremewan.

Intermediates: Ngaire Mangin, Zoe Williams, Susan MacDonald, Elaine Williams, Shirley Lincoln, .Nancy Brown and Janet BenfelL i Seniors: Lois Miliard, Rae Col is, Daphne Miliard, Phyllis Janiieson, Shirley Stevens, Morris Fcx, Brian McKenzie, Joyce Sayles, Ann Maree, Edna Sayles, Maureen McKenzie, Faye Sayles, Joy Wallis, He'en Key, J. Ball, Ron Sheppard, Gordon Roots and Russell Arnott. Chorus: Valma Coleman, Lavinia Hayfield, Pam Worsfoid, Prudence Robbie, Shirley Collett, Elaine Williams, Zena Bowater, Barbara Cuff, Zoe Williams, Jean Jacob, Doreen Jaceb, Lynette MacLean and Alison Joll. The following variety programme was presented by pupils of Miss Irene Oliver:— "Any Umbrellas," Mrs. Hesp and ballet; "In a Gypsy Encampment," Faye Sayles and ballet; "Tapplng Feet," Daphne Miliard; "Skipping Time," Shirley Lincoln , and Janqt Ben/ell; "tap," Rae Collis; "In Holland," Zoe Williahis and chorus; "tap Group," seniors; "With a Hey and a Hi," Morris Fox and Brian McKenzie; "Snow Time," Joy Wallis; "Happy Feet," intermediates; "In Your Easter Bonnet," Faye Sayles and ballet; "Rope Dance," Zoe Williams; "Naughty Nineties," senior girls; "Operatique," intermediates and juniors; "A -Tavern in the Town," seniors. The following prizes were announced by Miss Oliver and presented by the Mayor and. Mayoress, Mr. and Mrs. H-. B. Burdekin: — Attendance : Geraldine 'Mangin (junior) , Elaine Wilhams (intermediate) and Lois Miliard and Rae Collis (senior). It was mentioned by Miss Oliver that the two latter senior pupils ' had attended 'practices continuously for two years. progress: Phillipa Tilley (junior) and" Phyllis Jamieson (senior).
