Hospital Christmas Cheer Appeal Raises £60
The annual Christmas cheer appeal made in Levin on behalf .of patients in the Palmerston North Hospital Board's institutions was held on Tuesday. As a result of the energies of a willing band of workers, who worked enthusiastically throughout the day, the sum of £60 14s 2d was collected. This must be considered highly satisfactory. The effort was organised by the Maypress, Mrs. H. B. Burdekin, and credit is due to her for its success. The various collectors were Mesdames Dickinson, Clarke, Patterson, Tomlinson, Pascoe, ^Hair, Leach, Grifflths, Jenkins, Sweetzer, Stack, Rolston, Fletener, M:xham, MilLer, Greenaway, Potter and Hocking, Miss Chapman-Cohen and .Messrs. H. Harvey, Senr., and V. E. Hudson. Speaking to a reporter today, Mrs. Burdekin expressed gratification at the response to the' appeal. She voiced appreciation to the collectors for their part, commenting on the number of young women who had taken part on
this occasion, and to Mrs. T. C. de Mey and Mr. H, L. Jenkins for the assistance they had given her.. Mrs. Burdekin said she wished to thank all those who h^d contributed, and i-n this regard she soecially mentioned members of the farming community, who had- been Approached at the weekly stock sale. _•
