Arrangements For Carnival Progressing
Another very enthusiastic carni- • vdl,meeting was hel'd on Thursday •night, when Mr. H. Taylor presid- : ed. . The deputation from the executive whieh had mterviewed the sideshow proprietors reported on their negotiations, and advised that.^ numerous sideshows had • been" tentatively agreefi on, on a basis considered very satisfactory. The action taken by the deputation was endorsed. It was agree'd that queen committees ballot for the • sideshows, arid that their supporters do the necessary wdrk an'd hand.e all the takings in conjunction with the executive. It was reported that bookings for the picture screening in aid of the carnival funds on Tuesday night were quite heavy. It was agreed that the Mayor and Mayoress be asked to present the teams to tne public that night. Mr. W. Dellar was appointed to supervise transport arrangements to and from the beach. and it was further decided that votes be awarded to- prize-winning entries in the procession on December 18. It was considered this would be an added incentive for queen supporters to put enthusiasm into their eiforts. ' Working bees will attend at the beach again on Monday and successive evenings Mr. Wi Nich'olls reported excellent progress in connec'tion witn the talent quest that he is producing. He advised that many trophies had been received for prizes in this connection. and that satisfactory arrangements had been finalised and advertising com- , menced. Various other matters were re-J ferred to the executive to dea^ with.
