The No Ball In Cricket
(To The Editor) Sir,— Through your columns wodld you, or "Not Out," the Writer of the cricket notes, give me the ruling on. ari incidenb'in.. a game,at Shannon last Saturday. The- bowler delivers the ball to the batsman, the wickets are brokeh with the ball and the umpire turns to the -bowler and says, " 'Not out,' as I was going to no ball you." 3s the batsman out or is the umpire right in his decision of no baliihg the bowler after he has bowled the batsman? In my cricket days a bowler had to be "no foalled" as soon as he had made his delivery. If this ruie is allowed to stand, young cricketers will .take a . softball bat on to playing fields on a Saturday instfead of that shapely piece of willow called the cricket bat, which helps to make cricket the "Klng of all summer sport." •Your etc., "Play of 25 years ago." Shannon, Dsc. 1.
