WBLLIN GTON, Det. 2. The air search for the missing R.N.Z.A.F. Oxford with its crew of three, was resumed at 5 a.m. today. The weather, which yesterday f orced the abandonment of ihe -search, had shoWn a marked iffiprovement this ^morning, except in the particular atea of the Ruahine Rang.es. where the plane is believed to have erashed. There, at the headwaters of thd Tukituki River, it was raining and snowing this morning, and visibility from the air was nil. Search parties also left on foot this morning for the area. One' party intended to go to the headwaters of the Tukituki, and it also planned to search both sides of the Makaretu J Ridge, south of the source of the Tukituki. Where the Tukituki rises there is a narrow gap in the ranges and it is thought that the Oxford might have been flying through that gap when forced down. Wind conditions in the area were bad on Tuesday when the aircraft disappeared. In this morning's search two Harvards ahd a low-flying Auster took off from Napier, and 17 other planes were ensraered from Ohakea.
A fully-equipped ' police party is standing by at Napier, ready to leave for the scene of the crash as soon as it is notified by the Air Search Centre, Wellingtoh.
