Royal Visit To Otaki Discussed
The coming Royal visit was one of the main topics at the meeting of the Otaki Borough Council on Wednesday night, when the May or, Mr, C. F. Atmore, reporte'd that he had been in communication with Mr. J. W„ Heenan, of- the Internal Affairs Department, to ascertain where the council and borough stood on the occasion of the Royal vioit to Otaki, when en route to Wellington on March 4 next. Mr. Heenan had stated that the object of the stay in Otaki was to provide rest an'd ref reshment during the journey, and no opportun'ity would be given for the borough to extend an official welcome. Tne people of Otaki were invited to follow the lead of other boroughs through which the Royal visitors passe'd, • and line the route and cheer their progress. The matter of decorating the streets in Otaki 'was left to the discretion of the borough and townspeople. The Minister of Health would be present at the Otaki Health Camp, with the members of the King George V Health Camp executive and would be in charge of ' tne function there. The Mayor added that if the Mayoress attended that function it "would be in her capacity as one of the health camps medical advisers, and he, himself, as one of tne vice-presidents. The Mayor then invited discusision on the subject. The route the procession is likely to follow was commented on, and the matter of flags and bunting. Standard shields, pennants, flags and bunting were submitted to the meet'ing, and it was -decided to confer •with the Otaki • 'Commercial Association before making a decision.
