Call For Peace Negotiations In Palestine
Received Wednesday, 10 a.m. PARIS, Nov. 9. The acting mediator in Palestine, Dr. Ralph Bunche, presented to a private session of the United Nations Security Council a draft resolution c.alling on the Arabs and Jews to begin immediately an armistice and peace negotiations, ; says Reuter's correspondent. i ' - The resolution lays down that 'the* Palestine truce shall remain in force until a peaceful adjustment of the Palestine situation is reached. It ; instructs both parties to, firstly, settle the outstanding prob-: dems of the truce in all sectors; ! secondly, establish an armistice in-j volving the separation of the Jew-j ish and Arab armed forces by the, creation of broad demilitarised zones under. United Nations observation; and, thirdly, both parties and Dr. Bunche to submit frequent reports on the implementation of the resolution. The -council adjourned until tomorrow after discussing the draft. The Arab Office in London issued a statement today that if the Zionists insisted on breaking the Palestine truce, Britain would be morally boiind in fairness to the Arabs to resume the supply of arms to tlie Arab States. Britain would be internationally justified in so doing because the Zionists were seeking a loan of 20,000,000 dollars from thei United States. "it is the United j States Government's moral and in-j ternational duty to withhold the; loan. If the American and British Governments refuse to apply sanctions, then they and not the Russians will have killed the United Nations."
