The late Mr. Plaster-, who was the husband - of Mrs. Nellie RQSe Plaster, Roosevelt Street, Levin, was a joiner fiy trade. .His death was the result of internal injuries sustained on Friday at his place of emplpyment; when a piece of timbei* ricQcheted off a maehine he was opepating. Born in Binmingham, .Engiand, Mr. Plaster came to New Zealand 36 years ago and with his wife settled in Levin. He joined the firm of Harvey and QomRany in 1912 as 1 a joiner and has been so employed ever sjnce. Retiring by nature, the late Mr, P'laster did not enter greatly into the' commnnity life of the tqwn, his interests being bound up with hi§ hpme and the activities of his ehurch. In his youth he was an outstanding swimmer and when. in Engiand won many awards. . He was an enthusiastic member of the local swimming club iri the early days and later taught fnany others to swim- Until quite recently he helped to iudge events at local tournaments, A staunch Methodist, Mr. Plaster was a trustee of St, John's \for many years and secretary of the Bunday School for an equally long "liQd, A Wifiing worker iri church affairs, he was ever ready to lend a hand in any church proiect, and fiis knowledge of joinery Was of considerable assistance to the trustees. He was a reliable and conscientiou^ Qffice bearer, gnd was known for his eons-istency and generai spirit of heipfuiness and sincerity. He was also a memfer of the ohbir fqr many years, being a most ,regqlar attender and also a very enthusiastic member of choral societies in the town when these were in existence. He is siirvived by his wife and only daufhter, Mrs, l. b. Astridge, of Masterton, und four grancL. children.
