The Otaki War Memorial Com--mittee, at a meeting on We'dnesday night, accepted the recommendation of the organisers appointed, that a Queen Carmval be held to commence. on December 15. . . - The meeting decided. to call for nominations for candidates representing the business, farming, Maori and sporting communlties, an'd a further meeting is to be held on November 11 for the purpose of receiving nominations and electing the four queens. It was reported to the meeting that officers from the Internal Affairs Department would be visiting Otaki the f oilowing" 'day / 'WR^n the proposed site would be inspected by them. Matters in cohnection w.th the war memorial scheme generally will also be discussed wAh the visitors, as >the committee is anxious to deeide qn a defimt-e site ?without further- deT lay, so that the .first steps Can be taken to provi'de a hall for the social needs o'f the community; The meeting was reminded that the buil-ding purchased at Te Horo was considere'd suitable, ' and would be moved to the site when decided on. t A generous 'donation of an attractive and valuable canteen of cutlery was made to the committee, and permission is to be sought to raffle it.
