World-famous Dog Judge In New Zealand
AUCKLAND, Nov. 5. I One of the world's foremosti judges of dogs. 77-year-oM Mr. J. W. Marples. of Britain, arrived by' Skymaster from Sydney today to judge' at the Canterbury and Auckland shows. Mr. Marples set a world record, judging 2000 dogs in seven days; and eight nights at the Royal j Melbourne Show. He has judged in every world capital where dog vShows are held. He said that although pedigree •dogs in Britain had not yet regained their pre-war standard, they were improving. The wartime shortage of proper food and the lack of attention had left their niark. He had noticed a general improvement in Australia during his four visits. However, more imported pedigree dams and sires, particularly the former, were needed.
