Tennis Club Holds Annual Meeting
The annual meeting of the Otaki Lawn Tennis Club was held recently, when Mr. B. H. Rhodes presided over a very fair attendance. The balance sheet as presented was adopted. Officers- for the ensuing year were elected as follows: — Pdtron: Mr. W. M. Simcox; president: Mr. B. M. A. Ryder; vice-presidents: Messrs. J. J. Maher, F. Eales, C. M. Stewart, S. A. Elliott, D. C. -Taylor, H. Jacobs, T. V. Cahill, L.;Smith, F.« J. Edwards, H. Jackson, H. Wylie, A. Knox and T. McFetridge; club captain: Mr. A. Keeling; joint secretaries and treasurers: Mr. and Mrs. Ian Taylor; committee: Mesdames W. Rzoska and J. Te Puni, Miss Y. Jackson and Messrs. C. A. Kemp and B. H. Rhodes,; representative to Manawatu Association: Mr. G. Simon. A second representative is to be appointed by the I committee, as is the match comImittee. The opening day will also be fixed by the committee. Subscriptions for the season were decided on, secondary and prima'ry school children being given special consideration. It was agreed that the Manawatu Association be asked to r'eserve a number of seats for members of the Otaki Club at the forthcoming professional demonstration. Several applications from new members were received and, following general diseussion, it was agreed that the matter of relaying the courts and effecting other improvements deemed necessary be promptly attended to. A working bee was set up to carry out this work. The president thanked all present for attending and for the interest shown, and- considered the tone of the meeting was an excellent augury for a really good season. -
