Presentation Of Trophies To Golfers

In glorious weather the Levin Golf Club's- Cheslyn Rise links were officialiy eiosed on Saturday for 'the winter season. There was an average attendance of members taking pa'rt in the. Canadian foursome played over 14 holes during the eariy part of the aftemoon, and many visitors and friends Were present at the presentation of trophies. In extending a warm welcome to the visitors, the president, Mr. R. A- Frederikson, thanked them fori? their attendance. > H,9| welcomed | % the members aria ^cOngratulated )./ all competition winnqi;s on their successes. Tne- cliib' had had a most successful seasori, said . Mr. Frederikson, and he iwished to express his appreciatiohrof.the keenness displayed by all 'members. He hoped that they would be just as enthusiastic next ' season.

It was hoped that very shortly the extended course of 18 holes would be opened, continued Mr. Frederikson. He detailed the changes to be made and said that it was thought the new holes would be ready for the summer players. In thanking the committee and all who had helped during the season, Mr. Frederikson made special comment on the enthusiasm displayed by the greenkeeper, Mr. E. Joll. Most of the work on the gre'ens had been done by him — a most deserving affort in view of the fact .that he was also a keen member of the club. Mr. Frederikson then asked Mrs. Frederikson to present the various trophies to winners of competitions. These were as f oilows : — Men's section; Senior championship; W. G, Clark ; runner-up, S. Bronze medal, Mrs. Larsen. j When the fours were called in J at af ternoon tea time, it was found that the Canadian foursome had resulted in a Taw between Landers and Mrs. Frederikson and Travers and Mrs. Larsen. It was decided to have a play-off, the first pair to win a hole to be the winners. The result was a win for Landers and Mrs. Frederikson on the first hole piayed.
