A Greek Cabinet crisis loomed in Athens today as a state of siege was proclaimed throughout the country and the Army took ov.er maintenance of public. order from the eivil authorities, ^ays Reutef's Athens correspondent. Militaty courts haye been set up and a eurfew imposed. Liberal members of Parliament meet tomorrow to consider a prqposal of Mr. Sophocles and Mr. V enizelos', f ormer Vice-Prime Minister and deputy Liberal leader, to end the present Liberal- Populist coalition. Mr. Venizelos called on King Paul today to press -the need for a " superparty " Government instead of the present Lib-eral-Populist coalition. He reported that he' and his friends had already signed a declaration withdrawino; tlieir confidence fron; the present Government. Mr. Sophoulis declared that the Cabinet crisis was unavoidable. He may resign within 48 hours. The Associated Press Athens correspondent said Mr. Sophoulis said there
was no basis for a compromise between him and Mr. Venizelok. The British United Press Athens correspondent says Greek rebels shelled Florina last night when more thun 150
shells hit the town. The casualties were one gii'l killcd and ten wounded.
