Gaol Sentences Too Readily Remitted

WANGANUI, NoV. 1. The belief that the remission of part of sentences was too readily and too frequently granted was expressed by the Grand Jury today to Mr. Justice Christie. The jUry's presentment was that, alarmed by the numbers of sexual cases involving small children, it believed that sentences on convicted prisoners had not been adequately Severe in the past and those sentences were too frequently partly remitted.
